5 Fitness Tips by Fitness Down Under - Ever wonder why you can't stay motivated?

1. What is your Goal/Plan

One of the most important things to consider when planning to get into shape is your goal. If you aren't completely sure of why and how you are going to achieve your goal, you won't have the full motivation to actually get started, let alone stay motivated.

2. Choose a Workout that Suits You

Many people who are looking to get fit think they have to follow the same fitness routine as the people around them or what they see online. What they don't realise is that it isn't always going to work. Just as everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to food, their style of workout may reflect what they are interested in. If you hate running, then choosing a workout that involves running is probably not for you, so try something like Yoga or Weight Lifting. Ensuring that you choose the right workout that suits you and that you enjoy is key to staying motivated.

3. Pace Yourself

One of the main reasons people fail when it comes to working out is because they burn themselves out. They try to do too much for too long and it is just not a sustainable method. You are more likely to stay motivated with a 30-45 minute workout than a 2 hour workout which would only lead to you quitting in a few weeks if not sooner. If you don't pace yourself and rest, you will find yourself making more and more excuses as to why you can't workout today. Setting a routine and schedule will help ensure that your goals succeed.

4. Don't Compare Yourself to Others

Every individual is unique and has their own set of skills. At the start everyone is a beginner and will progress at their own pace. It is not healthy to compare yourself to other individuals as it is important to focus on only your progress. Remember, you are not getting healthy for other people.

5. Listen to an Upbeat Song

There is nothing quite like working out while listening to a catchy tune going on in the background.
